I purchased my nucamp not only to visit my family in New England, and for an adventure. 2 weeks later After waiting for my hitch I left Sarasota, Fl for Charlestown, RI. Years ago, I use to camp in tents with my kids on the base of Mt. Washington IN NH. First time pulling a camper and sleeping in one! Needless to say I was in for a rude awakening. Lots of stories and challenges, but I’m happy to say I made it home safely and feeling a great accomplishment surviving all of the trials and tribulations that made me a stronger person for it. My journey to RI was driving through the Mts. that I so much missed living in FL, and drove back to FL following the coast. I made it back to my destination with an extra passenger. My nephew Dillon 12 years old an awesome surfer and a great kid with lots of surfing trophies, was popular in local news papers. He decided he would like to join me on my trip back to FL Dduring his summer vacation. I did warn him there are no waves on the West coast! With that being said Dillon, Atlas and Set out for FL with some exciting stops along the way.
I booked all of my stops on the way to RI and did not book anything on my way back. Trying to make it to one reservation to another took all of the fun out of the reason for going on a journey in the first place.
My stops that I reserved on my way was; June 15 and 16, Twin Oaks RV Park in Elko GA, Cherokee, NC KOA Great Smokies camp ground on the river, 17, 18, 19 leave the 20th. I’m not a KOA fan but it was located in a great spot in the Mts. With tubing down the river and hiking up water falls. June 20, 21 Creekside Campground in Edinburg VA, with the exception of a major flood, it was a beautiful spot! June 22, 23 Mountain View Campground, little York, NJ and yes it was straight up Mt. view. June 23-July 15 Spent time at a few different locations and ended the last week camping on my brothers property in Wakefield RI. Spent my time in RI with my daughter, son, grandson, 3 brothers, sister in laws nephews and friends. There are no words to describe how much it meant to me seeing my family and friends spending great times with them that Will be a cherished memory.
On our way back Our first stop was in Seaside Heights, Toms River New Jersey. Dillon and spent the the day swimming in the ocean at a beautiful state park, and on the way back to the camp site we walked the board walk with lots all kinds of entertainment going on. Our next stop of course was Virginia Beach. Another beautiful State Park called First Landing State Park where our campsite had path off our site that led us to the ocean. Once again we enjoyed the beach and headed for the Virginia Beach board walk and of course the surf shop for some t-shirts. Next stop we took was an off the path stop that we had to go and see, Cape Hatterous! We found a place 6 campers down from the water on the outer banks. Even thogh there was a pretty good storm coming on, it was worth the drive. The next morning leaving the outer banks in the rain took for ever! Our next stop was a quick 1 night in a nice wooded campsite NC, then SC in an ER truck stop! Long story! Then we got a hotel in Gainesville, FL and headed home to Sarasota in the morning.
