Eric @trimtab, our tongue weight is 223, and our hitch weight totals 320 with bike rack & 2 bikes. See my 2nd comment under this topic for all weights/calculations..
The 223 weight includes the following additions:
a larger/heavier battery, a mounted drain hose storage tube, spare tire mounted on side, plastic storage box mounted on vinyl board platform holding chocks, wood blocks, cables, hoses, etc.
I also added air lifts inside the rear springs on our Toyota Sienna, which, when inflated to 30 lbs, prevents 1+" of sagging in the rear & stabilizes the ride.
Hey thanks Brian. We are pulling..or will be next week..our 320 with a 4 year old Audi Q5. Not the most powerful or rugged TV but comfortable. I wanted to keep well below the 400 lbs tongue weight it is rated for.
Our Sienna manual recommends keeping tongue weight between 9-11%, and our 223 is right about 10%. The bigger riisk, IMO, is being too low, which is when you get trailer sway. Being a bit on the heavy side of 10% without being too near the limit might be ideal for how the trailer pulls.
