@DanWeitzel, they were 1-inch clamps and half inch wide, from Amazon..Koehler Enterprises KE12BX 10 Piece Hose Clamp Box (Size SAE 12),Silver https://a.co/d/hxrwjlzI think this was the absolute minimum size that would work, as I found myself wishing they were a bit larger, as they were more difficult to get started, especially if you had to use only one hand. I liked the 1/2" width though - seems optimal to me. If I had to do over, I'd get the next larger size over 1-inch.

  Maybe having the high water pressure on the outside of that check valve somehow kept it closed tighter (maybe higher pressure too). Pressure may have dropped a bit on the inside after disconnecting, …

  As Scott said, sounds like the city water valve inside connection may be loose. I found that reaching in with my left hand with head down to right of toilet allowed me to grab & tighten the knurl…

  Yes, indeed it is! They have been very handy. I continue to use them for routine wheel bearing lube.
