I just replaced the crank with if I remember a 1/2” bolt. Just pop off the top cover for access. I think it was a 6” bolt. I cut off the thread. Then I drilled a small hole in it to match the crank handle. If you are not good with tools. Ask a friend or neighbor. Good luck

  In my experience over the years. The foam seals work very well. They are closed cell. If it happened to move out of place during installation that could be an issue, but it would probably leak around…
