It's not the water that heats the glycol, but the other way around. Therefore the Alde can still be used for cabin heat even when the plumbing is drained and winterized.3 -

You can find the installation instructions for the roof rack here. IIRC @Ratkity did a DIY install and might be able to offer some additional insights.2
