We also used a pool noodle (color even matches fairly well). Works like a champ. It should be noted that testing of the noodle after installation was accidental. :)6 -

Yes, we do like the awning. We weren't sure ourselves and we debated between the awning, tent, or the visor. But after taking this trip, we are convinced that we made the right choice.1
