I live labs, too. I needed a break, from non-stop shedding. My black & tan coonhound had major separation anxiety and so a normal well adjusted pup has been a bit of a break.1 -

Yes, the plastic woven kind are the ones to go with, for sure. They dry quicker and dirt and sand go, right through them.2
