Headphone out from television to Jensen

I built a raspberry pi server with a ton of movies. Since the TV has a single HDMI in I can’t get the audio to come out of the Jensen via ARC.
I connected a portable speaker to the TV with a headphone audio cable and it works. The problem is that I left the speaker at home and we will be home for a long time. Has anybody connected to the front jack on the Jensen with headphone out from the TV?
 If it works, I will try it on the RCA jacks on the back of the unit when I get to a place where I can take things apart.
