Rust stains

I store my tab for the winter in an old machine shop here in vermont with hundred of other vehicles. This winter some rust stained water dripped down on the top. A very small amount. I want to remove it without hurting the clear coat on the finish. Suggestions. Have not done anything just yet.

You could try a "Magic Eraser" from Mr. Clean.  It is melamine foam with a bit of detergent impregnated in it.  If the stain is really just a stain from something else it should take it off pretty well.  There is just enough abrasive action to remove the stain without damaging the clear coat.  BTW, those melamine sponges are also available in generic form at a greatly reduced price--but without the detergent added.  Google "melamine sponges."  They are everywhere.
You might also try a paste of baking soda and just enough water to keep the powder from going everywhere.  Rub in on with a microfiber cloth.  Heloise and I use baking soda for many things--polishing chrome water fixtures is one.

I used CLR to remove a rust stain from my T@B.

Just be extremely cautious using a magic eraser or similar. I have been what I thought was careful in the past and you can still get a full spot visible when the light is right. They are definitely abrasive that is the magic!

@peterac50, have you considered first trying a good cleaning wax (e.g., Meguiar's Cleaning Wax?)

I worked very quickly and rinsed it thoroughly. I can’t see any harm to the finish.

Thanks to all. Liquid cleaner wax did the trick. No harm to finish. Took it right off.
