Charging Trailer Batteries from Dual Alternator

Strongly considering purchasing a Tab 400. Has anyone installed a dual alternator in their tow vehicle for rapid charging of the trailer batteries? Also, how may batteries will the battery compartment accommodate without modification? I am hoping to install 3 lithium batteries. Thanks for any wisdom and experience you can lend!
