Hi all...I have a 2017 T@B s...this began last fall, but I always need to keep my fridge bolted closed because it won't stay sealed on its own...suggestions?
The seal is not glued in to the door. There is a groove all around the door that the seal fits into. When mine fell out I carefully pressed it back into the groove (you can feel it squeeze back in). Mine has dropped out just once or twice.
Others went with various glue or caulk solutions. There are threads about it here:
@Saravtower, "Gorilla Glue" is a permanent solution, so probably not the way to go with a rubber seal that may need to be removed and replaced in the future.
The links provided by @pthomas745 likely have ideas on what is best to use, but I would suggest using "Amazing Goop" (or, "Amazing Goop II"), which you can probably find at Wal*Mart. Check in the RV supplies aisle. Or, you can use silicone. You don't need a lot.............just a bead of it inside the grooves where the seal rests. When I did it, I removed the door and laid it flat on my garage floor (on top of something soft, or cardboard) so that the seal will adhere properly. If I recall correctly, you just remove a single screw from the top hinge and then lift the door up and off a metal pin on the lower hinge.
I agree with @Bayliss. Goop is the thing to use. But, you only need a slight "smear" of goop to hold the gasket in place. Try not to put globs of it on. You probably don't need it along the entire length of the gasket. About a one-inch long light coat of goop every several inches will do.
And now for todays oddball trouble shooting tip....to check the seal and to see if it evenly seals put a bright flashlight inside the refrigerator (turn it on first), close the door and turn off the lights and look for light coming from inside the unit through the seals. Refrigerator seals are not all created equal. A bad seal will often fail to seal properly. Careless assembly can damage them. If you have done your goop thing, properly replaced the seal and if it still isn't sealed it's time to buy a new one.
