Rather than attach velcro or glue anything to the Jensen Radio unit to
dim the light I realized this modification would work. I simply took a
3"x4" piece of plexiglass and glued a smaller piece (2"x3") of
plexiglass to the back surface about a half an inch from the top of the
longer edge. I then glued a 3/4x3/4" piece to the other side the same
distance from the top to serve as a handle. I spray painted one side.
The 2"x3" piece then inserts into the CD slot at night and effectively
dims the light. The size of the insertion piece is somewhat important
because if it is any deeper it will activate the CD player in an attempt
to 'play' your modification.

As an FYI, the face of the Jensen head unit can be dimmed. Turn the unit on, press and release the "Dim" button located to the right of the screen, then press and hold the "Dim" button and turn the Volume control knob counter-clockwise until it goes to zero/dark. Reverse procedure to return brightness to the level needed during daylight hours. Scale is "0" (dark) to "8" (bright).
Cheers and enjoy!
