Spare Tire Mount

I've been careful about wheel lugs torqued, but ignored the spare. On my last trip, I noticed the spare was quite loose. When I checked, the spare was held by a single nut, and that was quite loose. I took the spare off to work with it at home. At home I found that the nuts for the wheels and spare were not the same size. Now I carry sockets for each. I'm glad I found this out at home!
I've seen a comment about this size difference before, but thought it was on the units made by DM.
