Memory foam inside seat cushions

Has anyone tried installing a memory foam topper cut the same size as the cushions by removing and replacing the upholstery?
I wondered if it would work. You would just add the memory foam on top of the existing cushion foam.
It is such a hassle removing the memory foam if you want to convert it to a seating area.
I might give it a try but wanted to see if anyone here has attempted this first

I have done it in the past and although it makes put up and take down easier, the increased size of the back supports makes the seating length shorter and therefor uncomfortable

If you have a local custom cushion shop you might be able to work with them to figure out replacement cushions that work inside the existing upholstery. Maybe something like 2” of firm foam with a 2” layer of memory foam on top.San Francisco Bay Area
