I like the King Camp canopy and the recycled tent poles making an arch on the outer edge. Will give that a try. My tarp comes with several loops along all edges, so I might only have to sew on a couple pockets pockets for the ends of the poles.
I built a similar awning. I used 400 dernier nylon and support it with three adjustable tent poles. Originally I threaded a sectional tent poles with elastic inside, thru a seam at the edge. It achieved a nice curve, but was not very taught and would not resist much wind or heavy rain; hence the three poles. When it rains the two corner poles must be lowered to allow water to run off, otherwise it pools on the fabric.
If you’ve studied the expensive awnings, they contain a number of aluminum sections to keep the awning taught. As it is presently constructed and set up, it will resist about15-18 mph winds. This winter I plan to fabricate a curved outer piece of aluminum tubing, ( 3 sections) matching the curve or the tab. This will be supported by the three poles. It should increase the tension somewhat on the fabric and improve the looks. As an aside nylon is not the best fabric to use - it stretches when wet. More expensive but a better fabric is coated polyester. Sailrite.com has everything you need.
@Jeansor -- are you able to open your door fully with the canopy attached? It is one complaint I have read about regarding the Visor. I'm very torn between trying to do this vs just purchasing the visor, not real confident of my DIY skills.

we use the same tent fly with keder sewn on one end. 10x10. For poles we bought 5 extendable painter poles aluminum and the dug through the barn for 5 old rollers. Cut the end off at the first roller bend and smoothed the metal tip. This goes in the tent fly grommets and we rope down to tent stakes. No leaks, holds up to pretty strong winds
