2 way Norcold Issues in the 2018 400

I think the thermostat and temp controller on our Norcold is broken. Sometimes you turn the dial and nothing, sometimes you have to keep playing with it just to kick on the compressor. I reached out to Norcold at one point and they said to get it into a dealer. I currently have a call into the local RV repair shop and am waiting to hear back on timeline for someone to take a look. I saw a thread about replacing the thermostat with a digital controller and I have also seen people just swap out for the isotherm cruise 65. I think we still may be under warranty since we bought in April 2019 and am not crazy about the idea of wiring up a new thermostat on a somewhat "new" refrigerator but we are boondocking this coming weekend and would really love to be able to cycle the fridge if necessary. I know a few of you have pulled the fridge in the 400 and a few have swapped out the controller. Any advice or steps to troubleshoot this?
