Fantastic vent cover CAUTION

Hey all.
As we're going dry camping next week we decided to install the vent cover 1500 or something as we won't have air conditioning.
If you have a clamp on fan as we do (no exterior screws) the instructions will have you drilling 4 holes in the outside flange 3 1/4 " in from the fan housing front and back. All went well and we patted ourselves on the back.
However, the next day I had a blown 10 amp fuse when I tried to turn on the little a/c fan.
That fuse is for the a/c fan, the fantastic fan and the Alde. As an educated guess, I pulled down the fan and discovered that nuCamp routed the power to it through the aluminum framework at precisely 3 1/4", where I found my drill bit had gouged the wires enough to cause a short.
Luckily I could get enough slack to splice things back together and all is well.
So be advised not to let your drill plunge through the aluminum frame.....at least for the front driver's side hole!

A photo might help show others the exact location you're talking about, @gnudad2.-Brian in Chester, Virginia

Did something similar on our old tent trailer after installing an Led light bar for the outside awning. I kept tripping the main breaker and finally realized I had screwed right through an 110v line when I reattached an exterior outlet. Lesson learned.

Sorry, no photo....only a picture in words. It's the front, driver's side hole where one must exercise restraint when drilling.Tom & Susan & Della
