My DW was concerned that after use, the rather intricate Froli system would pick up and accumulate dust or whatever and there is really no easy way to thoroughly clean it. I decide to make it easily removable so that we could just remove it, hose it down and have it be easily reinstalled (like at beginning/end of season). Froli indicted it need not be screwed down, which makes sense if it was a single system but with it being pieced together it could shift. I ended up using 1/8" painter's canvas offset clips (with screws). I used 6 clips (4 corners and middle) for the left & right large areas and 8 for both the long narrow strip and the middle hinged section. For the middle section I used 2 on one side of the hinge and 2 on the other.
Essentially all the clips face the same direction except 2 at one end face the opposite direction. You lay the Froli down, slide it towards and under the open clips. Then for the 2 reversed ends (since the Froli is flexible) just flex it a little so the web is caught under the clip. It takes no time at all to remove or reinstall.
The arrows point to the direction of the clip's open end, the yellow are which initially catch the Froli and the red ones are at the ends to flex the Froli in place:
Below, the hinged section is straddled on either side of the hinge. This keeps the Froli attached nicely when you lift up the panel.
To keep the system from shifting side to side, install the slips close to the hub of the star.
I purchased clips that included 3/8" screws. You may be able to get by with just using the removed original hold down screws but they are very close to penetrating the wood. The wood thickness is 0.460, the original screws are 0.496 (worst case 0.500) and the material thickness of the clips is 0.045. So theoretically the point of the screw is about 0.005" below the wood surface. I wanted to torque them down so the clips would not rotate, so they could possible penetrate. The included phillips pan heads work fine.
In short I needed 28 clips with screws, bought 2 bags of 20 so the mod was about $11.
