Fixing spare tire cable hanger tip

It is likely Nucamp has produced an entire batch of trailers with mismatched parts.   (As per our 2021 model.)

Our trailer came with a drunken spare tire that was in danger of getting wiped out on uneven ground.
It hung down on one side and was not installed parallel to the ground.

The oversized dongle fails to nest inside the tire axle opening, causing the tire to tilt far to the side and hang up on the trailer frame when winching it up or down.   Surely NuCamp installers experienced this same issue repeatedly during each trailer assembly?  No one said, "hey, these don't fit together?"

The spare tire axle opening ID on ours is <81 mm and
the pressed steel dongle that holds it up under cable tension has an OD of ~83mm.

A good deal of effort and verbage is likely to result, including crawling under to shove the heavy tire around, while a second person winches.
(Yes, the A-frame necessitates shoving the tire backwards towards the trailer rear during winching anyways, but a foot nudge will do.)

Lowering the dongle and finessing it with a 5-lb hammer failed to correct this procurement problem of mismatched components.
Dealt with it this spring while had the rack was off to fix some broken rack welds (another issue!) and reroute the front tub wiring.
Could not crush it much, heavy grinding was necessary.
Pics follow.

Its a shame NuCamp let this out of the factory.  However, your solution is simple and effective.  Just curious, would enlarging the opening in the tire rim in two locations where the bracket touched have been easier?
