Trailer Valet

I have a steep compound turn driveway and my rig parks at the top in front of one of the garage doors.  I can back it up the driveway without a problem but due to the driveway curve there is no way to snug the side up next to the house within about a foot where I like it.  What I have been doing is moving it by hand.  the problem is the moment I move it forward the rig starts on the down hill and it takes a whole lot of grunt to not let  it roll down hill.  I park my truck in front of it so if I lose control it will crash into my truck rather than head out into the street.

With the Valet life should be easy.  I have not used it yet.  As you can see from the second pic it really is just set in place, note the blue tape and many washers, I must get shorter bolts.

The Valet can stay on the tongue, it flips up and out of the way but I won't do that, it comes off in about 30 seconds from the mount that stays so I will put it on only when I need it.

It looks like just a beefier jack/wheel that might roll easier hence saving your back.
Am I missing something besides that?

As usual, yes.    It is a two speed trailer mover.  Just turn the crank an swivel it any direction and move your trailer with almost no effort. It also has a built in brake to control it on slopes.

Hi Rad -  what's the model #, price and place to order?  Etrailer.com has one on sale for $299, not sure it's the right one.

I sure can use one if it can easily move my TAB move/ climb up my driveway.

etrailer is where I got mine.  Very fast service and free shipping once it was in stock.  It took a few weeks before they received another shipment of them.  This was the case for the other places that carried them.  It appeares the demand at that time was high and manufacturing lagged behind.

It was $299, not cheap but considering what a second back surgery might cost it was a bargain.

Be aware there is a made in China copy on eBay for much less.  Stay away from it, the reviews indicate it is complete junk.

I also have a driveway that the trailer will slide down.  when getting ready to push, I slide a 2x4 in front of the wheels of the trailer and one in front.  Also keep a chock within hands reach to put infront of tongue wheel, just in case.

Can it be mounted on either side? I have a Prodigy RF brake controller mounted on the driver side of the frame.

Yes it can be mounted on either side. The crank is placed on the outside no matter which side you choose.  I have mine on the drivers side because I have a spare tire mounted on the left side.  

If if you look at my first photo you can see the two different shafts the crank can be placed on ( two different speeds), identical shafts are on the other side of the unit so you use the appropriate shafts for the side you are mounted on.

Bought the Trailer Valet and set it up to try and move my T@B CS-S about 6" yesterday instead of reconnecting to my TV. Anyway, discovered it doesn't work well on my gravel driveway. Did not know that prior. Anyway, before I put it up for sale, any suggestions on what I can put under the wheels for traction? I've tried a stiff rug, rubber car floor mats, and a piece of ceramic tile. No good. Any ideas?

What's it doing, spinning in place?  How about more tongue weight?  Studded tires?  How about someone on the rear end and a helping push to get it rolling?   Gravel would be an impediment but some momentum might be helpful to get things rolling.

Yes, Mike. Spinning in place. Someone on the Yahoo forum suggested plywood and I found a door sized piece behind the garage so I will try that. Anything big enough so the tires don't scootch it out. The extra tongue weight might help as well. Thank you.
