Lithium Battery Low Temp Protection Question

I’m planning to replace my 80ah lead acid battery with a 100ah Lithium in our 2022 320 CSS Boondock.  Among the many lithium choices are batteries with no low temperature shut off feature. My question is: can I simply use my Victron Connect app (version 5.80) to disconnect the T@B’s rooftop solar and keep it from charging the battery in below freezing temperatures? Thanks.

Yes, on the the App's "Settings" page there is a "Charger" toggle switch that turns the charging on and off in the controller. 

Victron also has something called "Smart Battery Sense" that apparently can provide low temp protection. I don't really know how it works, but the Amazon reviews are pretty positive about using it for exactly what you need if that is the way you want to go.

I have the Victron Smart Battery Sense that is networked with the factory Victron solar controller to disable charging at low temps on an AmpereTime (now LiTime) 100aH lithium battery. I have it set to disable charging at 1 deg C. You can mount the sensor anywhere. I have mine right on top of the battery inside the battery box in the front tub. 

It has been working great this winter. I think it’s a good way to go if you do buy a battery w/o low temp charging protection.

Keep in mind that anything implemented on the solar side will not protect the battery when the trailer is connected to the tow vehicle, or shore power.

One could always turn the battery switch off when connected to shore power to keep it from charging.
