For those using a Jeep Wrangler to tow a TAB 320S Boondock - what has your experience been?  Interested on MPG when towing; tongue weight; various weights I need to ensure are within range; should we carry items in the Jeep or the TAB; any recommendations are extremely welcome. This is our first travel trailer - purchased over a year ago but haven’t had the opportunity to experience it until now. Want to ensure the Jeep can safely tow and not cause any damage to the trailer or Jeep.

I appreciate your time and expertise

Does your Jeep have the Jeep factory towing package installed?  This is going to make a difference, and if so, you should not have any issues towing a 320.  There are several members here towing a TaB320 with Jeep Wrangler.

Do you have the Wrangler Unlimited (4 door)?  If so you will be well within the towing limits (3500/350 lbs., no WD hitch needed nor recommended.  I tow a 320s with a 2021 JLUR 4Xe with the same 2L Hurricane engine and usually get between 15 and 19 mpg depending on headwinds and the the temperature.  I installed the Mopar brake controller in the dash.  If you have the 2 door Wrangler you will be much closer to the tow limits and will have to carefully watch total weight and tongue weight.

To keep tongue weight downI put a single Lithium 100 Ah battery in the compartment near the converter and I replaced the steel propane tank with a 17lb Viking lightweight tank. I usually carry two folding ebikes totaling 135# in the Jeep and I installed Air Lift 1000 airbags to keep the sag below 1"

@stp2136 - thank you. With the Viking lightweight tank…how do you refill it?

The Air Lift 1000 airbags - can you explain?  All this is so new to me

I have the 2021 wrangler unlimited Rubicon

The dealer installed an after market brake controller but would prefer Molar - will you post a pic of the controller in the dash?

@stp2136 - when I switch out the battery - is there a sequence that I must follow?  I read something about the solar panels and controller connections to the battery. I believe the control has to off before connecting to the battery. Not sure.

    Appreciate your help

The Airlift 1000 air bags fit inside the rear springs and are used for load leveling:    https://www.airliftcompany.com/products/air-springs/air-lift-1000/
The Mopar brake controller fits in place of the 12V power jack in the dash:  https://store.mopar.com/oem-parts/mopar-trailer-brake-controller-82215652ad
I am not aware of any special sequence when you change out the battery.  Just turn off the battery switch and drop in the new battery.  Be sure to get the polarity right.  The Viking tank fills like any steel tank.  You just need to find a dealer that fills tanks rather than exchanging them.

@Playa_Bonita_30A before you start changing batteries and buying a bunch of stuff...camp first.  See what works.  Your current battery setup may work just fine for you as far as tongue weight, etc.  So...get out there and see what is what.  Then come back and ask specific questions, if you think you would like to.

And, before you start doing anything with the battery and solar controller...take a picture of the setup and the wiring.  One of the annual rites of spring here is people installing their batteries and completely forgetting how to hook them back up.

The solar controller and panel:  if you are going to change that out, take the panel connections from the controller first, then remove the connection from the battery.  And, when it is time to reconnect the controller (you did take a picture, correct?!) the controller should be connected to the battery first, then the solar panel wiring to the controller.

You normally disable the solar panel charging to the battery before disconnecting a battery in addition to turning off the battery switch.  On the TaB400, with the Victron controller, you use the Victron phone application to turn off charging in the menu.
