Replacing the TV with a monitor

We don’t use the TV as a TV, but I do like to review pictures on the larger screen. However, the stock TV has lousy resolution and overall quality so I’m considering replacing it with a computer monitor of the same physical size. I know the mount and wiring are standard and no problem, but I don’t know if the stock media center can handle a high resolution signal. I’d like at least 1080 and 4K would be ideal. Has anyone tried this?

Samsung TVs with the power brick in the line cord typically work. Says 14V DC on the back of the TV but used them for years on lead acid 12.6 volt batteries.
