Permanent doohickey to hold door latched when using Keder rail awnings.

All of us have some workaround for the door to awning interference when the door needs to be latched open. Does anyone have a fix that is clean in design that latches the door open AND easy to unlatch like the existing one? I'm thinking like a receiver that is offset from the side of the trailer or a similar idea that extends the door pin? I'd be worried about catching something (like me) if it sticks out to far however. You get extra points if it is hinged so its awning use selectable...

There are lots of ideas in various threads. This thread has other threads inside it.This thread from 2015(!) has a mod of a plastic tent stake that holds the door open using the hinge of the door. I have stakes that fit, but it just seemed a bit stressful on the door hinge. One of the threads I mentioned above has some good ideas.

I'd worry the wedge would damage the frame and may not be compatible with all the trailer versions. I'd also have to remember to remove the wedge.. may not happen all the time. The 3rd link had some good thoughts. https://tab-rv.vanillacommunity.com/discussion/bookmark/2792/WgFJWOtLye1jY6NZ by combining the short wood block temporarily fastened to the wall with a pin. Then add to the magnet idea with 1 or 2 magnets, on the block and the door interface. This way the door can be released with a pull similar to the existing clip. If the block were removed, the door would work as previously. I'm gone on some business trips for a few weeks when I return I'll play with the concept and post pics. The main problem I see is the "Rare earth" magnets are extremely corrosion sensitive and even with plating they can get ugly fast.Snohomish WA, 2015 Diesel Grand Cherokee

My solution. Perhaps not pretty, but it appears to work.
This question got me thinking today about a solution as I too have wanted a fix. Thanks for the motivation to get at it.
Given that the TAB door can open approximately half way before touching the awning, I drew up a paper template, made some measurements and then cut an extension stop that fits the 2 factory door holder pieces. The stop was cut from a scrap piece of cutting board. The two cotter pins will hold the stop in place which secures it to the door. I will drill the two holes in the factory pieces tomorrow. Here are two pictures to give you an idea of my solution. The left side of the stop goes against the door.

I like it but I would like the latch to work without positioning the extension.
