PXLated, is your Jeep Unlimited 4 dr ??  Mine will be 2 door with max tow of 2000lb.
With the lower gears I hope not to have any trouble pulling fully loaded Max S. :):):)

Rolland, I do get better mileage out west and driving from west to east while towing. Both @PXLatedand I have 4 door (JKU.) I think you will really be pushing it with the 2 doors as they are rated at 2,000 labs. I don't load mine down a s I feel like I wouldn't tow any higher weight with mine.

Rolland - Yep, 4-door. Like Jenn, I'm not sure I'd tow a T@B with the two-door model. In addition to pushing the weight limit, the short wheel base would make me nervous.

Add us to the 4-door Wrangler crowd. I'd be afraid to tow without the Unlimited

    Towed our T@B with a 2014 2 dr Wrangler. V6 Pentastar engine 285 hp, 3.21
gear ratio, manual transmission, 7000 miles, 6 week trip last fall.  From Wi to Yellowstone, Tetons, Bryce, Zion, south rim Grand Canyon, Canyonlands, Arches and back to Wi.  No handling or sway problems.  Averaged 12 to 16 mpg.  Because of the gear ratio, never towed in 6th gear, worked fine.  Also, if you have not bought your Jeep, something to consider, the drive train in your Jeep is usually warranted for 100,000 miles, but the fine print in the warrenty, your clutch is only covered for
12 months or 12,000 miles.  The automatic transmission with normal maintenance will be covered by the 100,000 warrenty.  We now have a 2015 4 dr Wrangler, automatic transmission, max tow package, higher gear ratio which at the time I can't remember the ratio, the rear doors make it so we can access our trailer hook up items, Bal leveler, blocks, hoses, electrical, etc.  We also considered buying a Lance 1575 in the future, but not at this time.  The only odd event with the 2 dr Wrangler, was coming down into Capitol Reef with torrential rain and put the Jeep into 4 wheel drive, because of the water on the highway.  In our case we didn't have any issues with the 2 dr Wrangler and just wanted the higher towing capacities and convenience of the 4 dr.  Jeep went from a 195 hp v6 to a 285 hp v6 in 2012. Night and day difference, more hp and a little better milage.  My wife and I know, as we have owned 7 new Wranglers.

Thanks for the update jdargis.  I just can't wrap my head around a 4 door jeep, just looks like a squared off SUV.  I was well aware of the max tow and auto trans but I am an old, old, old timer and have to have a stick tranny and just two doors.  I have a friend down here that has a 1990 jeep with the inline 4.0 6 cyl manual and he also traveled all over the west several times towing a popup with no problems at all.  After all it will only be a TV for a few months or less each year.

It can be an expensive investment.
