I just ordered a 2024 Tab 400, Boondock/Black Canyon/Lithium upgrade. Very excited.
I am looking at the back up cams, specifically the solar recharge/magnetic ones.
Anyone have experience with the solar/magnetic ones?

As far as I know, no aluminum is magnetic, but the T@B skin is definitely not.

Here is a backup camera search. It would be quite interesting to hear back from owners who started installing these a couple of years ago for their "long term" reviews.

The first model I had was a solar unit that attached to the license plate. I got it from (https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Drilling-Install-Universal-BOSCAM/dp/B08CVGBDC3 ) Amazon and it quit after the first season. I can only assume the winter weather killed the power system and should have disconnected once the season was over. I only used it for backing up. I now have a Tadi Brothers wired unit that is attached to the same location. It requires a transmitter/receiver to go to the rearview mirror cover monitor. The power is pulled from a 12 volt source in the lighting system. Took me forever to find a spot where I could get a half decent signal. The problem I have now is that the camera is too low and needs to be mounted higher. The monitor image looks like a camera from an airplane’s front wheel on takeoff and is very distracting while moving. I need to go back and relocate the unit.

I use a Garmin wireless back-up camera that's wired to the license plate light. No power problems. Shows up on my Garmin RV GPS so I don't need a monitor for it.2021 T@B 320 S Boondock

@SLJ Which Garmin GPS and which camera? I had a SmartDrive 55 and had problems with the BC 40 range when mounted on the rear or our 320. Switch to a BC 30 and it works fine, but that's a wired version with less resolution. We just upgraded to a SmartDrive 86, but I assumed that it would have similar problems with the range using the BC 40.

I started with a BC 40 also. Did not work well through the T@Bs metal roof. Have the BC 30 with the power hardwired. Use with our RV 780 and DriveSmart 65 and it works fine. Would not go back to a battery or solar powered camera. Check because different Garmins take different cameras.AnOldUR said:@SLJ Which Garmin GPS and which camera?
