Moved Propane Tank to tongue on my 2023 Boondock 320s

I decided to make the Utility Box strictly a Utility box and moved the propane bottle out onto the tongue. It was easy with the right parts and I like the way it looks.

I thought about buying a full size spare tire and mounting it there. But, I’m ok with the current 14” spare tire stowed under the tongue. It’s in the perfect spot and a 15” wheel wouldn’t fit under there. So, even though it’s not the same size as my main wheels, I’m okay with using the mismatch sizes in an emergency. If a tire fails I plan to replace it immediately or at my nearest destination any way. So having a third tire isn’t that important to me. The stock 14” spare tire suits me just fine.

I put a bucket in the original propane tank bracket and filled it with all the hoses and essentials I use for the nautilus water system. Now that the propane bottle is out of the utility box I’m going to add a cabinet lock to keep honest people honest.

Interesting. Moving the tank further forward will increase your tongue weight some. I replaced my generic spare tire and mounted it on the platform as getting the spare from underneath without disconnecting from the tow vehicle was a real pain and it reduced the clearance. Adding another matching front tub from Seabiscuit Metal Designs solved my needing additional storage problem.

My stock 14 inch spare is tucked up in the frame nicely and presents little or no clearance problem that I can see. I moved my propane bottle 16 inches closer to the hitch which adds about 5 pounds of weight onto the hitch from the stock position, so no worries. (Probably about the same as moving the spare tire forward.) I like those seabiscuit metal bins, I’m definitely going to look into that!

Looks good.  I've a few questions if you don't mind:

Did you move the regulator as well or just get a longer hose between the regulator and propane bottle?
Is the hard shell cover over the bottle in it's new position just something standard from an RV dealer?
Is the crank mechanism for your spare bolted in place to the utility box or is there a brace underneath?

    Thanks!

I left the regulator in place. I moved the stock pigtail forward into the cover using a 5 foot extension hose. The cover is a standard Camco single propane bottle shroud off Amazon:

The spare tire mechanism is in the utility box on the floor towards the front. Its action is accessed from inside the utility box with the crank handle. The crank handle for the spare tire just sits loosely in the utility box. I may mount it, but I have the utility box packed so it doesn’t move around much.
