T@b 400 Owners: Do You Like Big Fridge?

We are looking at 2020 400’s and really like the big closet for hanging clothes across from the small fridge under the kitchen. Do you prefer a larger fridge and no space to hang your clothes or a smaller fridge with the big closet?

Personally, I love my larger frig at a higher level - no getting on my knees to dig into the back of the frig. I have gone 5 weeks and still had a couple things in the freezer at trip end.

I use packing cubes to keep my clothes neat and organized.  I am camping - nothing requires being hung.  I have a few command hooks on the entry door and on the wall by the bed for jackets, shirts, etc.

We love the fridge at standing height in our 24 400. A fridge located at floor level like the older 400's would be a deal breaker for us. We had a 320 with the fridge at floor level and hated it !
BTW , if you are looking at a 2020 400 , make sure it doesnt have the Air8 A/C unit under the rear bed , they had a lot of problems ! If it has the cool cat A/C under the dinette seat on the passenger side you are good . A dead giveaway if it has the Coolcat is the large A/C mesh screen on the passenger side of the camper .
Good luck in your search !

Thanks for your thoughts and guidance!  Definitely looking for the A/C without the side vent.

Where do you store your clothes and other bulky items that may go in the closet?

It has what the seller describes as “upgraded A/C” that I see on the roof.

I use the cabinet with 2 shelves below the cooktop for clothing.  My shoes, hiking boots and shower bag go into the cubby below the frig - netting used to contain items.  I leave the storage compartment under the bunk empty except for longer trips - which is then used for extra clothing in labelled packing cubes.  Clean clothing comes out, dirty laundry goes in.  Light and/or rain jacket on hooks either by bed or entry door.

    Is this a 2 or 3-way fridge?

Looks like my 3-way fridge.  Runs on shorepower, propane or battery (for transport only).

We had a 21 Tab 400 with no microwave and the small fridge and loved it! We miss our big wardrobe cabinet.
We now have a 24 tab 400 and no microwave is still an option so it’s gone but no options for the fridge! So we are stuck with the big fridge and tiny space for wardrobe.
In all honesty, we have used the fridge and it is handy but would much prefer the way we had it in the 21 tab 400. Small fridge works best and if you need more there are great travel cooler options.
    Just our thoughts.

@Pekoe1111 - you should ask what “upgraded A/C” means.  The 2020 400s had the Air8 that did not work well.  Some owners had their A/C altered for better performance.  The thing on the roof is a vent cover to prevent rain from entering.

Agreed on the A/C ! That is a roof vent cover in the picture , not an A/C unit on the roof. A Cool Cat A/C system is clearly not present in the picture as the passenger side does not have the large cut out for it .
I would look further into what the "upgraded A/C" actually is . If its still the Air8 , proceed with caution if you intend to use the T@B in any hot climates . Lots of people tried to "upgrade" / modify the Air8 to work better and it really never fixed the Air8 / 400 problems. You can do a search to see how problematic they were in the 2020 400's . NuCamp smartly went back to the Cool Cat A/C unit midway in production on the 2020 models and has been used ever since (the new 2025 400 still has a Cool Cat) !
Having an Air8 would be a deal breaker for me ! We LOVE our Cool Cat !
Beautiful looking 400 Boondock though !

Also , I believe that is only a 2-way fridge with no 12v option . Not 100% sure , But pretty sure its only 120v / Propane . Check the model # .

    Good Luck !

We decided the oldest we would buy is 2020 because of all the upgrades. Now we need to watch out for the A/C that year or look for a 2021!

Note that some 2020 models did have the Cool-Cat , so the "right" 2020 400 might be ok . You are safe with a 2021 and above though .
There are plenty of 400's for sale , and prices seem to be coming down , so no need to jump on the one that doesn't "feel right" .

Good Luck in your search !

@Pekoe1111 That thing on the roof is just a cover for the roof fan. I would find out what they mean by upgraded A/C.

We have a 2022 TAB400 with large refrigerator and NO wardrobe.  I'm 6'2" and crawling on the floor to look into the small fridge was a "NO GO" situation.   BTW, we use propane for the fridge when ever boondocking.  Cheap and effective.

I'm 6' tall and have no issues getting items in/out of the refrigerator.  We specifically looked for a T@B 400 with the small refrigerator and the wardrobe closet.  I added shelves in the wardrobe closet on one side held in with velcro for easy removal and we really like having the ability to put all of our clothes including hanging items in the closet and drawer below.  Yes - a bigger refrigerator would be nice but our set up strikes the right balance for us.  My only minor complaint is we can hear the refrigerator compressor at night (no propane option) but we're light sleepers.
