Rooftop Cargo Box

Instead of the usual cage/basket, we bought a small cargo box to attach to the Yakima bars. We wanted something small so that it didn't extend up over the solar panel on the roof. This one was from Amazon and is about 8ft^3 in size.
I set it up to sit as far down in the back as I could to allow easier access. I also attached it to one side so that the key lock and the opening was easier to reach. The bottom Yakima bar I didn't move, because one of the sliding mounts was actually non-sliding - they put a screw into the roof there. The upper bar I slid down to allow the lowest possible setting of the box mounts.
It fits the entire Walker side tent with sides, poles, and curtains, plus a small rolled-up rug. Nice to free up some storage space in the truck.....

I have a Thule box and was thinking the same exact thing. Was wondering the affect on gas mileage and whether the wind might catch it and break it? Have you had any experience in high wind at 70 mph? I live in KS and it is windy… thanksSteve2024 Tab 320 S Black Canyon

I have an Acura branded version of the thule roof top cargo box attached to the Yakima bars of my 320s. I’ve used it in some pretty bad weather, it never leaked even with rain and winds driving at 70 and 80 mph hitting under the front lip. I didn’t really see any effect on my gas mileage, it doesn’t add much to my frontal wind profile.2023 T@B 320s Boondock, 2013 Toyota Tacoma TRD 4x4 2016 Toyota Tundra 1794 4x4
