Is Brake Controller still required with 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee with factory tow package?

I have just replaced my beloved trusty 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with a new 2025 Limited with factory tow package.  I am getting mixed opinions on whether I need a separate brake controller unit to manage the electric brakes on my 2021 Tab400.  So I am coming to the Tab experts for guidance.

If the Jeep already has a built-in brake controller, then no.

Two Google AI searches say 2025 Grand Cherokee does not have a factory installed Trailer Brake Controller or even offer one as a stand-alone or within package option (one search says it does).

However, Build A Jeep web page does not list or reference any TBC as a standard feature or option.

However, double check your owners manual.

Our 2017 Cherokee had a port in the wiring harness where the Tekonsha brake controller we purchased plugged in. It looks like the 2025 has the same socket for a controller.
