Longest trip yet...the good and the bad!

So we are nearing the end of a 30 plus day road trip. We have covered 4 provinces here in the East including Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, New Brunswick and PEI. We have travelled over 4000 kms and everything has gone pretty well.
-We removed the indoor fridge and went with the portable. When we are set up for multiple days it's great! When we are on the road for single night stops, not so much. When the weather is crap and you're inside making coffee it's nice to have the fridge so we will put the one we have back until we get a new one. (bought a 12v used and it's not great)
-We put 14" LT tires on this past spring to replace the ST original tires. They look great and seem to be a great tire BUT my gas mileage has been horrible! Now we towed in wind and over hills so all are factors but even on "easy" days my mileage was bad. When I say bad I mean an average of 3-4 litres more per hundred kms. It's the only thing that has changed on the camper and makes sense.
-First time ever at a 3 way site with sewer. That was kind of cool.
The 320 is an awesome rig and this is our 6th summer with it. Just keeps getting better!

We averaged almost 15 mpg over 4500 miles. I think you can expect 12-16 mpg on average.Sharon / 2017 T@B CSS / 2015 Toyota Sienna Minivan / Westlake, Ohio

I did average better last year and I had kayaks on the truck as well but the terrain was less hilly. (2021 Ranger) This year we travelled in a more hilly area for the most part and it was quite a bit worse. I'm not sure the LT tires are the reason but they are the only difference I can think of.Sharon_is_SAM said:We averaged almost 15 mpg over 4500 miles. I think you can expect 12-16 mpg on average. -
Good for you - we've gone on several long trips - but between the sierras and the Rocky mountains we usually average between 12 and 13 mpg towing - so your doing very wellTV:2019 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X With an Old Man Emu liftTrailer: 2019 T@B 320 Boondock with a Lock&Roll Coupler & Jack-e-upCustom fabricated metal bottom claddingCalifornia, USA

I was around 12 mpg quite a bit. Newfoundland isn't known for being flat!Cherokee said:Good for you - we've gone on several long trips - but between the sierras and the Rocky mountains we usually average between 12 and 13 mpg towing - so your doing very well

Returned from a 3,100 mile trip from south Texas to Sedona and averaged 20.0 mpg. Try to keep my speed between 60-65 mph. We tow our 2020 320 with a 2025 Kia Telluride. I have towed our 320 with 2020 4Runner, 2022 Highlander and now the Telluride. The Telluride is my favorite vehicle of the three.Something I do to increase my driving participation is to use the manual shifting option in mountains, hilly terrain, or driving into strong head winds. I strive to keep the rpm between 1500-2000 during these situations. Do not know if this makes any difference but it does require me to be more engaged when driving and takes me back to my manual shifting days.
