Maxxair Maxxfan Deluxe - Manual vs. Remote?

I'm planning to order a Maxxfan on my T@B  but am going back and forth on getting a remote opening fan vs. a manual opening fan.

DH thinks it's silly to get the remote when the fan itself is one step away from anywhere in the trailer. I think it would be nice to adjust the fan without getting out of bed, and I wonder if there are some fan functions you only get with the remote.

I think at least a couple people here have the Maxxfans, so

1. if you have the manual fan, can you do everything (open/close, adjust speed, set thermostat, etc.) on the fan itself?
2. if you have the remote fan, do you think the additional cost is worthwhile?

I don't have the MaxxAir fan with remote, but my Fantastic Fan has the remote.  It's mounted on the wall in its holder at the head of my bed.  I've never had the need to even take it out of its holder, so losing it hasn't been a concern.  I had the same thoughts as your husband about it being the epitome of laziness, however I've come to love it.  It's so nice to be able to change the fan speed without climbing out of bed and being all disruptive.

I have the manual version and, though I considered buying the remote version, I now can't even imagine why. All of the controls are more or less within arm length from anywhere. I've found plenty of other good uses for the money I saved. Regardless, the MaxxFan is a great upgrade; the built in rain guard has a low profile and really works to keep the rain out during even hard rain.
