2021 tab 400 glycol boiler

New to NuCamp. We bought a 2021 NuCamp tab 400. Started searching for the glycol boiler and pump.

Finally found it. Under the bed driver side.

Welcome to the TAB Family.

Yep, that's the Alde Unit. Overall it is a wonderful quiet/capable cabin heat and water heat system. But, there is always a but, it does have a steep learning curve to fully understand it's operation and common bugs.

Highly recommend reading the entire Users Manual, it's justified for this unique system.
Also use this forums Search Feature as most new-owner questions have been discussed.

It will be helpful to know your Alde System is a model 3020;

• with the stand-alone Flow Unit
• It should have two of the Yellow Handle pressure relief/drain valves
• and does use the newer style Alde speedfit 'red cap' thermostatic mixing valve [ TMV ] for the hot water output.

Thanks. I’m guessing my first task is to change the glycol.

From the camper’s records, I see no evidence that it has ever been changed.

@MuttonChops The red tank next to his Alde is a pre-warmer ? Does it operate on 12 volt or propane or both. I do not have this. Was that an experiment? I have the 3030+.

The Red Tank is the Flow Unit and it is a passive pre-warmer that functions as a simple heat exchanger. Very hot boiler water exchanges heat with incoming cold water so water into boiler requires less time/energy to heat. The pre-warming does not reduce the very hot water temperature that much . . . as a TMV is still required to create save temperature domestic hot water.

Believe Alde introduced the Flow Unit to increase duration of usable hot water, once the concept was proven some smart engineer came up with a way to reduce size and build it into the main Adle unit.

Simple Adle Model History:

1. 3010 analog and digital control panels, 8lt tank, fuses on ground and +12V connections
2. 3020 digital only control panel, 8lt tank, only fused +12V, minor interface SW changes
3. 3030 digital only control panel, 10lt tank, only fused +12V, major interface SW changes
   1. 3030+ same as 3030 with a Flow Unit built-in. Requires extra piping/connections.

thanks for the info. Never had a glycol boiler unit in a camper. It does seem a little complicated for a camper. I pulled a regular tank out of a Tiffin bus and put on demand in it.

That worked out pretty well

Ok, change out the glycol today. Looked over all hose fittings. Was really a difficult job.

The glycol that I pulled out looked great and the ph was good. But I had already ordered it. So might as well change it out.

Congrats on tackling this successfully. I agree regarding the Alde—I’ve always thought it to be a very complex piece of equipment for what is supposed to be a simple pastime.

That said, when you want heat or hot water, it delivers like no other.
