Perfect replacement unit for Jensen JWM22 Stereo

Greetings. I wanted to let everyone know the Boss BV6860BH head unit is a direct perfect replacement for the Jensen JWM22, including the screw holes. The LCD went bad on my Jensen stereo in my 2021 Tab320, probably due to prolonged minus 30 temps, and I was happy when I went to install this $50 Boss unit and it popped right in and perfectly aligned. Seems to be a nicer unit than the Jensen.

    There are as many complaints about the Jensen head units then there are about any other part of the trailer. Replacing the unit is the solution.

    So, this one popped right in? Have you tried the HDMI passthrough there on the front of the unit?

    Was the wiring connector a match or did you have to splice it?

    We never use the head unit.

    When we use the TV I just connect to it directly via a separate HDMI cable. Usually connected to an iPhone to watch streaming, or to our mini video game consoles…

    But I have been thinking about ripping out the head unit, and replacing it with a little cubby that has a USBC power plug so we can plug in a phone while watching TV.

    I no longer have the Jensen TV, I updated that with a slightly larger OLED and love it. The Jensen JWM22 is still there and I do use that as a Bluetooth sound system, however the sound is terrible and I would like to upgrade that.

    The whole panel above the fridge is about to get a do over and that would include opening the section and replacing the the panel with something else.

    Right now the HMI for the Victron Cerbo GX is mounted next to the Jensen. I am looking for a purpose built multi zone head unit that will support Bluetooth and wired inputs to replace the Jensen.

    My inputs for the Starlink Mini are coming in from the outside panel that is accessible in the space behind the Jensen. I might also include the front indicators of the small router/switch that might be in the front panel.

    It would be nice to find the same format footprint as the JWM22.

    So far I have come up with this:

    Kenwood KMR-XM500

    It has more functions, built for marine use, newer product, 19X4Watts vs. 6X4Watts, fits in the same hole and it is Kenwood.

    I am not sold yet and the idea of putting something larger in there is a thought. I am not looking for louder sound, but instead clear, clean sound and better, more modern integration with audio devices.

    Kenwood's inputs are all on the back so it wouldn't work for me as my music library is on thumb drives. I currently have a Furrion (Lippert) cube stereo that the only thing that bugs me is it doesn't remember the last source or song after powering it off. When I want high quality audio I use a Bose Bluetooth speaker.

    So far the format is odd, but a lot of the marine units will fit, which are made to fit into round gauge holes on a console.

    This one looks interesting and it's made by Garmin: Garmin Fusion Apollo MS-RA670

    The Apollo has a USB input on the back and I could easily make a flange mount USB int the front panel. So this one is in the running.

    For headunits with rear leads you can buy panel mount extensions such as this to place anywhere.

    But then it's not a direct swap.

    Would be interested in how the Boss BV6860BH works as I've read some reviews that weren't happy with the sound quality.
