Haven Six Week trip

Just got home after six weeks on the road that began at the nucamp rally and included a beautiful 8 days along the Trans-Canadian Highway and then back home to FL through the Northeast states. This is the longest trip so far in our Haven and here are the results.

Leak from condensation on the Truma. Fix was (per Truma) adding a second seal (note not replace the seal but add a second on top). Also, recommended a slight up nose angle when parked. We use small stick on levels so this nose high is easy for us. Experienced three massive thunder storms and some high heat and happy to say no leaks from the Truma area.

Fridge door fell off. We were at a nucamp rally in TN and another Haven owner told us his fridge door had fallen off. Now, ours had a habit of coming open on movement days so we used a velcro strap to secure it. Well, on the way to the rally at a stop, our door had come completely off (issue was the bottom hinge screw was too small and had come out). I fixed it and at the rally nucamp installed a new bottom hinge. We still use a velcro strap plus a small pin that fits in the hole on the top right side and extends into the top of the actual door. After some really bumpy roads, happy to say the door has remained closed.

Truma A/C. I have to say the Truma is nice but the fan can be loud, especially if it's very hot inside (like after a travel day) and you're trying to cool the interior. We select the night mode button and the fan nose is greatly reduced. Still cools great and may take a bit longer but we can have a conversation.

Tried boondocking and water pump failed. Did a Harvest Host stop on the way to the rally and the water pump worked perfectly. Next Harvest Host and no hot water on electric but hot water on gas. At the rally, nucamp determined that some how the 110 plug had disconnected so it was a simply fix. However, I think in that process of inspecting the ALDE section, one of the yellow flip valves was put in an up position. This either happened during the work or "somehow" along many rough miles. The result was at the next Harvest Host our water pump worked but no water. We could hear the pump but only a very weak stream of water was available. Spent hours checking the pump filter and trying various methods to prime the pump but all failed. Located a mobile tech who agreed to do the repair (replacement) and since his home was close to our route, we just stopped in his drive way and avoided the travel cost. After replacing the pump, same issue. Then we discovered when we opened the ALDE compartment, the yellow valve. We flipped it down and everything worked. The service cost me $200 and that included $80 for the pump. Nucamp warranty agreed to send us a check to cover the cost. I think the original pump is good, so at least I have a spare.

Water around the door. Three massive rain storms when parked and we had some water on the floor. On a very dark night, I went outside and shined a bright line along the door edge and my wife spotted six gaps in the seal that let in light. On inspection, it appears the rubber door seal has been deformed. We contacted nucamp and sent pictures and asked them to send us a new seal and I would do the replacement. They expressed some reservations (perhaps warranty issues) so I told them a local mobile tech would do it and he could bill warranty. Waiting to hear back.

Awning. Hit or miss if it would extend and retract but found the more we used it, it actually got better. We did had some lube to the awning arm joints. The wind sensor took about 10-mins to program. Definitely follow the instructions (I believe a fellow Haven owner posted them to the forum)

In April we had the 3 degree pitch axle installed. According to Marvin we were the first and they were not sure how it would work. Well, after 7000 miles I'm happy to say it works awesome. For us, we think it actually tows better. I think the boon dock comes with a 3 degree but if you are looking for a replacement on a standard Haven, they may only offer 1 and 2 degree hitches.

Squeak in the floor. We noticed when parked and stabilizers down, that we get at times a random squeak between the dinette and kitchen counter. I've tried adjusting the stabilizers (I don't use them as levelers, so I'm careful when I lower them) and have mixed results. At the rally, a nucamp tech greased all four stabilizers and no squeaks for around four days, then they came back. I'll add this as routine to do before each trip and on longer trips every five or six days and we'll see if it helps.

The fridge door is interesting. ours opened on a rough patch of highway and broke off. I went to home depot and got a screw to replace the pin on the bottom hinge, which had broken. This has worked well. I also bought a little cam jam rope tie down and three small ring anchors. removed three of the screws on the plate around the fridge and added the ring anchors - now we can tie the door down on travel days. maybe over kill, but we like it. I'll try greasing the stabilizers; as we have had the creaky floor at times.

Not sure if you are aware, but there is a small sliding piece of plastic about 2x4 under the upper edge of the fridge frame that is suppose to be an additional lock for the fridge door. It doesn't work well as evident of our fridge door opening. The velcro and small pin seem to do the trick so far.

Yeah - we were just being overly cautious - Never had the fridge come open on our tab400, and we were in the middle of a 60 day trip.
