What RV sewer hose fitting do campers use to fit under older metal dump station sewer pipe covers?
Hello,
I have been using my 2021 T@B 400 camper (which I purchased used) for about 1.5 years.
While traveling, I have been flummoxed by by my inability to get any of my sewer hose end attachments (that I currently own for my Camco Heavy Duty RV sewer hose) to fit under the older dump station sewer pipe opening metal covers (hinged and non-detachable), which only open less than 90 degrees (please see attached photo.)
Could someone please post a link to a RV sewer hose end attachment which will fit securely into sewer pipe openings guarded by these old dump station metal sewer caps? Again, the sewer hose attachment would need to fit on the end of a Camco Heavy Duty RV sewer hose.
Thank you for your help! Vance

I have a Camco hose with a fitting like the one shown in the attached image. I thought were a standard design and I've never had an issue getting then under the covers you describe.
What are you using?

Thanks for responding Scott. The last dump station where I had a problem was in a Virginia state park (the photo in my original post.) The metal dump station lid here would only open about 60 degrees from horizontal. None of the sewer hose end fittings I own (please see photo below) fit in the sewer pipe hole below that lid, because they were too tall to insert properly under that lid.

I'm surprised that the one on the right didn't work. I have one that's sort of like that and I've been able to use it everywhere.

Same here (though I can see why the other two might be a bit too tall).
My suggestion in those cases is to remove the orange "donut" from the elbow (mine twists off) and just put the elbow under the cover.
You could also possibly shorten the donut by cutting off a bit of the lower flange.
In both cases you'd need to be extra vigilant about keeping the hose in plase and the, um, effluent properly directed--but both would be better than not getting the hose in the hole at all!

On the one on the right, doesn’t the orange threaded portion unthread from the clear elbow? Mine does. I never use the orange threaded portion on those type of dump stations.

Thank you for everyone's ideas. I think that the last dump station lid that I encountered, in my top original photo above, may have been particularly difficult because all of the concrete surrounding the sewer pipe opening had been poured into a funnel shape. The lid's foot tab behind the hinge was unable to move very far when I stepped down on the foot tab, because the foot tab was quickly blocked by the funnel shaped concrete underneath.
Please see the photo below for the potential solution I just came up with. I had a second RV sewer hose that was not being used, which I cut off in such a way that the flexible hose can (hopefully) be inserted down into the sewer drain pipe under an old style metal lid, so that there is (hopefully) a minimum of backwash when I empty the camper's blackwater tank.
I'm looking forward to testing my idea out in the field, ha!

That's the ticket. The best solution to an old receptacle is an old bare hose…
I like this. You still have all your other connectors plus a new one.

I bought this for a different application but it might work for your sewer connection.

Off topic, but related: I used my new "Americanizer" for the first time today. It works. Allows you to connect the cassette spout to the drain hose with a secure thread on one side and the bayonet mount on the other. Quite useful if you are emptying the cassette at the dump station.

That was my application. I used the above on one end and the Americanizer on the other end for the same purpose. Wanted to have a clean way of dumping the cassette toilet.
