Lagun Table Top Ideas

I have been doing some brainstorming ideas and thought it might be nice to start a thread with ideas of things that can be used for the Lagun table top. Not all of us have the skills to create a nice table ourselves and will need something at least partly ready to go. Here are the ideas I have so far:
  • Ikea table tops
  • Convert a Craigslist find
  • Hardware store plywood/unfinished table tops
  • Shower bench/stool (from @RollingLagrima )
  • Marine cockpit tables
  • Workbench tops
  • Regular table tops
  • DIY palette table
I am not sure what the weight capacity is for the brace.

    If you use Pinterest, try searching for "diy tabletop". Lots of neat ideas. I really like the idea of decoupaging an image onto a ready to finish tabletop from a home improvement store. I might be inclined to use a poster of a vintage painting or map from my beloved Adirondacks. http://www.adirondackmuseumstore.com/prints/posters.html

    Thanks, @jgardis . My guess is that you would not want the table to weigh that much.

    I think the size in the YouTube video demo is ideal.   You still have plenty of room for two people in the trailer and it frees up more space as opposed to the current (bulky) stock table top used in the T@B units.  You could get by with half or a proportionately smaller amount of weight and still end up with a manageable and practical table top.  I have a friend up the street who is a wood worker and he said he'd make me a nice table top for the trailer minus the current bulky top I have.

    I think "ideal" will vary. I don't really need one any bigger than the size of the side seat bench... which looks to be about 18 x 36ish....but people with kids might need one closer to the original size.

    I'm wondering about a drop leaf design of some sort.  This base has a lot of potential. 
    Norm & Pat. 320 S Outback Utah or somewhere else.

    Something along these lines would be very cool but obviously would cost some buckalero's!  Not necessarily the same wood colors but hand made and one of a kind.

    Yeah, would love that. There are some super cool cockpit table tops for boats along those lines.

    My son in law and his dad own a sawmill, they have hardwood stacked up under a set of lean-to's and they are both very adept with woodworking, have lathes and other fine wood working tools so this will be something I am planning on looking into.  My buddy up the street also has his garage set-up as a wood working shop, has a dust collector ventilation system and all the goodies too so I will see what I can wrangle up in some type of deal.  We shall see!   B)

    Ikea used to have a Norbo table that was birch (for some reason only available in England at this time).  I bought a while ago and found i a great match for the t@b. Real birch and not terribly heavy.  I may modify my current setup with the Lagun (we'll see).  I cut to desired size and rounded the other size.  IF they get it back in, it is a cheap way to get some nice wood surface to match the interior.

    I've taken the plunge and have a table base on order.   Now to find a nice piece of wood for the table and some slats!

    That multi-wood top reminds me of a cutting board I had to make in shop class.

    If you don't need too big another thought for a table top could be a large cutting board.

    I was thinking about that, too. They can be pretty thin these days. Marshalls, TJ Max and other discount store for good buys on these and tables to hack.
