Hello.......I'm new to this forum and am very interested in purchasing the Little Guy T@B S Max in the near future. I currently own a 2014 Ford Edge SUV with the 3.5L V6 and 6 spd Select Shift Automatic Transmission. Does anyone use this same vehicle to tow their T@B's and if so have you had any issues at all especially in the mountains? I have never trailered anything larger than a smaller fishing boat and am trying to learn all I can before making the purchase.  Thanks!

Hi.. I picked up my T@B S Max in February.  I am driving a 2013 Ford Edge, AWD, 3.5V6, with Class II Tow Package & 6 Speed Select shift transmission.  I did have the brake controller installed on my car.  Have towed on several mountains - no problems!   Can't even tell it is back there :-)  Obviously, it's early in the game, but, so far - so good.

I would check the towing rating on it. The 2016 model with towing package is rated for 3500lbs but only 2000lbs with out the Tow Package. I believe the T@B Max S is rated at GAWR 2900lbs on the spec sheet. If towing underrated I would be concerned with Insurance Liability and State Towing Laws

If I'm not mistaken the Ford edge tow package included an upgraded radiator, cooling fans and trailer sway control on top of the receive and wiring harness.  I also thought the Sway control was software adjusted with the heavier duty tow package (not a change in parts, but in programming).  .

I'd check with Ford on differences in the factory tow package to determine potential issues (sway control adjustment and stronger radiator might be necessary).
They should be able to let you know what it would take to upgrade.

I don't think the engine and transmission vary, so overheating seems to be biggest potential issue.  The T@B is under 2,000 lab's so I would think that the sway control is probably less critical (but they could let you know).

The issue isn't with raw power, there is plenty of that.  I tow with a 2.0 Escape which has less power than your's and it does fine in all
terrain (I do have a factory installed tow package).

After doing research to determine a new TV, we recently bought a low mileage 2013 Ford Edge.  I had read numerous reviews on different tow/trailer sites and they were positive.  The tow rating for the 2013 is 3500 lbs with the 3.5L V6.  We'll be adding a cooling fan and brake controller to be on the safe side.  As this will be my only auto, I wanted something that was easy in town and sturdy on the road.  Here's hoping it meets those expectations!
