Hey PXLated are you out there? I think we're diging out the T@B and heading for Death Valley NP this Friday, Feb.19th. What's the name of the old western movie set north of Death Valley?
It's actually west - Lone Pine, CA (Alabama Hills) - Great place...
I'll probably head that way once the temps north of there rise a little - Bishop, Mono Lake.
Warning - I headed out of Death Valley from Stove Pipe Wells west, You couldn't pay me enough to do it again. 9% grade up for 35-40 minutes, then down 9% with hairpins, then back up and back down. Was in third gear all the way and had the T@B brakes dialed up. 9% for short climbs/descents is no problem but that goes on forever. A guy I know's son stopped at the first descent and called his dad wondering if brakes could catch on fire :-)
Too bad you're not staying over there - Great place ... In addition to the movie history and great views there's fly fishing if you're into that kind of thing. The view...
You never know where we might end up. We're staying at Wine Ridge RV Resort. Never stayed at an RV Resort before, unless you cout KOA. If we get to board we'll move on.
