What is the black plastic in the keder rail?

wondering what is the black "tubing"in the kadar rails of our max s? We took them out in order to get our awning in. Do we put them back when not in use ,what's there purpose . Thanks

Cosmetic only. Serves no other purpose. I took mine out and left it out.

Like PXL, I saved mine as well, but then I have full basement that begs to save every spare mechanical part I acquire. For a person that is trying to get rid of the majority of her possessions, this area is the hardest to fathom thinning out! I have recycled the broken tools, but the parts... alas!
