Kudos once again to Ryan at Zamp (OR); he knew my problem (wrong extension cable), and turned me on to a super local supplier (Back Country Solar) in Cortez. Here's the correct (10ga) 15ft. extension cable next to the "maintenance" (wrong) cable:
