MIL Campgrounds

Run across MIL campgrounds every once in a while - Don't know anything about them other than a friends parents stayed at the one pictured by Yuma - He's ex military like a lot of us earl baby boomers. Always thought they were for "active" military. Anyone know the scoop?

They are for active duty military and retirees. I wish they were open to veterans but I guess there are just too many.

8 years was enough for me.

15 months of mostly poncho houches is probably why I swore I'd never camp or hike again :-)
Don't really consider campers/RVs camping.

8 years for me, but the hubby is a 22 year retiree...so I can still get in.

Just curious, do they check military IDs upon entrance?

Ratkity, the one I saw in AZ was a fenced in area and the Camper's had to go through the main Yuma Proving Grounds gate to get in. I think it's a safe assumption military ID is required.

PXL, So does that mean it's glamping? I remember when I was in Korea, I tied my poncho between two trees and used it for a hammock while on field exercises during monsoon season. The other guys were soaked the next morning , and I was dry. McGyver strkes again! That was definitely NOT my idea of camping!
