Mona, Do you know how it was originally attached? Would be helpful to know as I have not seen a thread related to this problem previously. I know from having to re-set one of my window seals that there was a groove that the seal had either come out of, or was not properly seated to begin with. Thanks.

mona, Thanks for the response. I think [and others might chime in here...wait for it!] that a flexible adhesive would be a viable fix as that seal flexes with the opening/closing of the door. Might be shoe goo is the answer, but perhaps there is a better solution that I am not aware of. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Like two sided tape? A better solution might be your first thought with a flexible adhesive, would probably last longer. Just make sure the surface is REALLY clean before using though. Rubbing alcohol works really good to clean, and doesn't leave a residue. I've used it many times with good results.

mona, Try it in a spot where it can be easily removed first if that is a concern. Other than that, good luck, and let us know how it works out in case others have the same issue! Thanks.

Thanks! Off to find the alcohol. Hope shoe goo sticks to aluminum.
Shoe goo sticks to the shower door frame. And I keep rubbing alcohol for those inevitable scrapes and cuts, cleaning the walls before applying Command strips, and just minor spot removal on the walls.

mona, Sorry to hear the "fix" didn't fix. Does the whole piece need to be replaced, or perhaps a different type of adhesive would work? Maybe a trip to the local hardware store, and some advise from those who might have more knowledge of adhesives for that particular application would help. If that is something you are willing to try, I would even take the strip with, and explain the application to them for a more viable repair. Just a thought, good luck, and please keep us posted, thanks.

Wow! I think a different adhesive is in order. One question though, and I'm not trying to be a "negative Nelly", did you clean both the runner, and the frame with the rubbing alcohol? Ok, two questions. How long did you let the adhesive set, or did it just not bond at all? thanks

Mona, I have a very good black adhesive I bought from the factory that would probably work for you. Call Elsie on Monday and tell her it's the sealant for the trim on the tongue box.
You might even want to talk to Marvin or Ed first to see if they would commend the black adhesive.
I know it's expensive, and I would gladly share with you if you lived closer.

If the double-sided poster tape works but doesn't hold up, try some of the gray heavy-duty automotive molding tape from 3M. I've used this for a number of applications--it comes in different widths and is super-sticky and durable. Should be available at any auto parts place.
