Perhaps this has been discussed before, and I'm sure I'm not the first one to run across this, but I have found a new (to me) web site that has all the public campgrounds for the USA and Canada. Includes all National Park, National Forest, State Park and Provincial campgrounds, all BLM, TVA and Army engineers and military-only campgrounds. Most regional, county, city and utility-owned are also included.
You can also download the information to your GPS or phone, for free. Check it out.
EDIT: I have removed the link because I cannot get it to work. Even if you type it into the address bar in your browser, it will not work. BUT, you can get to the site by searching Google for usacampgrounds.info and following the links.
(Thanks, Jenn)

Larry, I can't get your link to work.
I use the Microsoft Streets & Trips software and have downloaded the free Mega POI data that includes almost everything you could want: Public campgrounds, private campgrounds, different clubs, Walmart overnight parking, Walmart no overnight parking, Cabelas, dump stations, and many, many more. You can filter it any way you want.

Jenn, your original link may have not worked because of a typo. Try www.uscampgrounds.info
