AGM Batteries

We have a 2017 T@B Outback. trying to find out if the stock WFCO will charge AGM type batteries? I have been told that there is a different type( higher voltage) of charging for AGM. Also read that you can mount AGM batteries in any orientation. Looking to go 2-6 volt AGM batteries mounted on there side in the original aluminum front box. Measurements for fit look promising.

The AGM batteries take a LOWER bulk charge of 13.8. The WFCO converter will charge AGM and flooded lead-acid batteries just fine. Yes about the orientation of the AGM, just be careful of grounding wires to any metal (including exposed screw heads) or other wires.

I have been using 2 6V VM Charge Tank AGM batteries for 3 years.  The convertor charges the batteries just fine.

All AGMs take different bulk charge rates.  Odyssey extremes and Optimas for example, ask for 14.7v.  Check the AGMs manual or call the manufacturer to be sure.

For most smart battery chargers, like the CTEK line, they have an AGM setting which charges at 14.7, where the regular flooded setting is 14.4v.

Mine are in a plastic vented box in the wheel well.
