Getting caught in cold weather

TCretroTCretro Member Posts: 33
I have a 2017 Outback and am on way back to Michigan from being out West. Currently in Colorado by Grand Junction and the next couple nights at higher elevations weather callsfor temps as low as 26 degrees. With the alde running and leaving all cabinets and bathroom doors open will the tanks and pipes be ok and not freeze. Thanks for any ideas.

I made the mistake of assuming that the tanks would be ok for a few freezing nights.
My black tank gate valve (drain valve) froze and cracked.
If you run antifreeze through the black and gray tanks, and make sure it gets into the gate-valve mechanism, that should be enough.
The freshwater tank in your Tab is also external, isn't it? You'd best drain that.
Otherwise, keeping the Alde going, with the cupboard doors open, should be plenty, as long as the daytime temps are above freezing.

Another thing we learned is that the Tab doesn't hold heat well when it's rolling down the road at 50 or 60 mph.

When we stopped, we found a nice stalactite between the kitchen sink and the spigot.
