My dealer installed the Tekonsha Primus IQ controller in my truck. I don't live in a mountainous area, but it seemed to work fine on my first trip. It gets good reviews on Amazon.

Tekonsha RF wireless works well for me...did not have to splice into any wires under dash. Did have to run power wire from battery back to 7 pin, and wires from brake lites to 7 pin. Both of those tasks were simple, in a '16 GMC Terrain, compared to splicing in an under dash system, at least in my estimation. Good luck.
Agreed!!! Minor cost and not something u have to think about once it's installed. After an initial setting it just does it's thing. Alsonhabe the Tekonsha...about $200 all in to buy and have it installed if you don't want to DIY. Mine is mounted below the steering wheel to the right. It's a Subaru Outback.

Yes. All T@Bs with electric brakes require a controller.
Your choice is between a wired brake controller or an RF model.

Good luck.
My Pilot is pre-wired for a brake controller (after a YouTube search).
Continuing to track all additional costs. LOL!
