I used one of those desk mats.  Actually works rather well...  This one had a seam or fold, but doesn't bother us...

Well, I misspoke.  It's really a chair mat at the office, with little teeth on the underside that hold it in place.
They look like this:


They run anywhere from18 dollars and up.  I had an old one and cut it...
