Generator etc. Box

Hi, I put a generator box for my Honda EU2000i between the front jack and the propane/battery box, with less than 1/4 " to spare on each side. The box is bolted to the frame. I had the box from an earlier camper. They are custom made by http://www.kshmarine.com/generator_box.htm. That box now also contains the power cable, a 10 feet sewer hose complete with connectors and a cordless drill to operate the leveling jacks. The two attached pictures show the box and its contents.

Wow! We don't have a generator but would love to have this box. Would you mind sharing what the price tag was on it?

Hi GaylandJohn, in 2015 I solicited a quote form the manufacturer. It came to $275.00, plus shipping and handling of $70.00, for a total of $345.00. Remember this is a box custom made for the Honda EU2000i; i.e. you can use the generator without taking it out of the box as the latter has removable panels to let you start and stop the generator, while a hole in the box coincides with the exhaust, so all hot gases are vented outside the box.

This is a great box I use just for my inverter.  From Kotula's for about $129.

I have a cart with wheels that I roll up the ramp to the toy hauler. If I had room on the tongue, I think that box would be worth it!

@Ratkity I'm amazed you haven't put an engine on the cart!

@Twojgrams, well, um, the generator *is* an engine... just need the gears to move the wheels of the cart! I might have an old lawn mower front wheel that could do the trick lol.

Thanks for the info Richard! I noticed on their website that they also will make a custom tongue box.

you can use the generator without taking it out of the box as the latter has removable panels to let you start and stop the generator, while a hole in the box coincides with the exhaust, so all hot gases are vented outside the box.

That looks like a great solution.  A few questions though...

    1) Having a generator on the tongue means it's fairly close to the front window. Are you concerned about carbon monoxide making its way into the RV?

    2) Having the generator box mounted to the frame seems like it would transmit vibration into the cabin. Is it noticeable? Did you mount it with rubber bushings or other sound absorbing material?

    3) Is the Honda 2000i strong enough to start and run your A/C?

    Thanks for any info.

This was posted along time ago but I have some of the same questions as Justin in Seattle had. Were there ever answers to those questions? Also when I have run my generator from the platform on my 320 tab fumes have come inside so I need an extension of some kind. Can anyone help I would like to lock the generator onto the front platform so I don’t have to take it on and off all the time and it wouldn’t be stolen when I am gone from the camp spot.

I have a Honda 2800i which I have strapped down inside my pickup bed. I just roll back the cover and start it up.
