Trailer Jack Woes

Hi! Unfortunately, after our last trip in the T@B we noticed that along the way, the trailer jack post that fits into the front wheel got totally bent. I THINK I might have hit a speed bump at too high a speed and caught the post and it bent. Well, now we can't put the wheel on which isn't catastrophic in the short term, but we'll need to fix this. The silver lining is that I did need to practice backing the trailer into spots and now this is the only way we can move it!

So, has anyone done changed/upgraded their trailer jack? We'd love to do it ourselves if possible if just so that the T@B isn't stuck at the service center for the rest of camping season. Also, curious if anyone has added an electric jack and if so, what did you use?

I did the same thing. I was able to cut of about 2" with a hack saw drill new holes problem solved. Replacement jacks are not that expensive. Probably less than $40.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004IYC5HU/ref=cm_sw_r_em_api_c_2DRRzbWMEPXT5

Thanks! I also now feel less bad about being the person responsible for this damage. Seems like a thing that's an issue to others as well!

I agree with @Dalehelman, except I cheated by having Austin at nüCamp cut the 2" off for me.

OK, guys, I paid for the labor, just like you guys do!  When it comes to money, nüCamp is in business to make great campers first and to make money second!  So, I have a great camper and then Austin cut the 2" off of my trailer jack!

I bring a small sledge hammer with me to straighten it out if it gets bent. Comes off with three bolts and I just find a piece of cement or rock and pound on it until it's round again.

Thanks. We tried banging it out with a hammer without taking it off without much luck, but sounds like we might have better luck with that if we can hammer it on something very hard. Good tip!

Update on this: we bought a new trailer jack and successfully swapped it out this weekend. Well, my husband did while I stayed out of his way mostly. Turned out it was pretty easy even for non-handy people. He also replaced the city water connection inlet that I cracked (don't ask.) These were both also fairly inexpensive fixes.

Next on our list is to figure out solar panels...
